About Us

Night of Peace Family Shelter Inc. is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to assisting homeless families with children. We provide emergency shelter, case management, meals, shower and laundry space, and other necessities to help families in their transition to permanent housing and self-sufficiency.

The Call for Christian Ministry was founded in 2005 by the late Reverend Dr. Colin Phillips, LCPS (retired). In 2006, a group of Baltimore County faith-based leaders responded to the cause of homelessness, and Salem United Methodist Church became the host location of the “Night of Peace” Family Shelter. While Reverend Dr. Colin Phillips is no longer with us, please listen below as he speaks to his hopes for the shelter and the need in our community.

Since opening its doors in 2005, Night of Peace has helped over 1,500 individuals fight homelessness. In the past two years alone, 300 individuals have been sheltered and over 100 have found housing and a fresh start after homelessness.
